Don’t pay the ransom, I escaped!!!!!!!
Had a great, too short of a time, but I had to come home last night because Mass was at 8 this morning and I am the music and I have to meet a friend in Belle at noon and go get my 3 fillies back from my nephew. Their daddy learned a lot down on the river amongst all them spooky things at the AR. Here’s a few photo’s as I walked around before I left yesterday evening. Them artists like that slanting light in early morning late evening. So that is when most of the shooting of photo’s takes place.
- Walking from the camping/parking area towards the river
- camp of “the boys from Illinios” a group who portray mostly mountain men and site of much revelry!
- indian model headed to the river for a “shoot”
- ox and wagon trained by this boy of about 10 years old
- artist and models
- going and coming from the river
- lots of differnt things for the artist to shoot to make their paintings from
- young ladies portraying cowgirls
- indian lodge and family scene
- two of the “Illinois boys”
- calvary/sutler/hangers on camp
- Evening meal
I made these photos vague on purpose because those who use material from the Artist Ride need permission to use these photo’s that are taken there and pay for the privilege of doing so.
It was another good one. I think this one was the 27th year of this.

Cool shots! It would be pretty neat for all the artists who have such a selection of subjects to shoot! Thanks for giving us a look in on it all.

You guys have got amazing facial hair out there!! Some great shots.
Also, I work with a company that has a farm here in the UK, would it be possible to get a link to their website via your blogroll section? I would be happy to link to the Dennisranch blog from their website. Feel free to email for more info

Not sure I understand your request James. Do you want to have a link to your site up on my site? The only links I put up are of blogs and places who are friends or have become friends from my reading their blog posts. But perhaps I am not understanding your request. I am not the sharpest knife in the drawer, you see!

Speaking of you being a model for artists, I used a picture of you and Beav at the Central States Fair yesterday and today to draw from! Because I won a best of class, and best of show there last year, they invited me to come back this year, set up things to sell, and draw all day for an audience. I went back again today because they didn’t have anyone else scheduled and wanted me back! I’ll have to photograph the drawing and show you my progress so far.
By the way, did you know you look like Wilford Brimley?? Hahahaha…there were several people who asked me if that’s who I was drawing!! Ok, so your mustaches are similar, but beyond that, the so-called resemblance escapes me…maybe when he was younger? I know absolutely nothing about his career, I only really know him from those Liberty Mutual “diabeetis” advertisements! LOL!

Far Side of Fifty Photos
Looks to me like a dream for photographers..but I suppose real artists like painters have to have something to go by:)
